Michael Lynch 教授专长于科学技术的社会研究、生物学与社会、常人方法论与话语分析、社会理论与社会科学哲学。曾任Society for Social Studies of Science(4S协会)的主席和著名期刊Social Studies of Science的主编。现任教于美国康奈尔大学的科学技术学(STS)系。本课程将通过法医学、转基因、生物专利等案例,讲授生命科学技术与社会的关系。

本次海外课程由清华大学科技与社会研究所主办。课程对国内学界开放,欢迎广大师生列席旁听。但是因为课堂容量有限,并需事先复印课程资料(收取成本费用),敬请旁听的师生提前以电邮或短信形式向课程助教报名,告知姓名、单位、电话、电邮等。报名原则基本上是先到先得。如果因故退出,也请事先即时告知。如果课堂已满,我们可能会谢绝未事先报名的师生列席旁听。


Professor Michael Lynch studies discourse, visual representation, and practical action in research laboratories, clinical settings, and legal tribunals. He received the 1995 Robert K. Merton Professional award from the Science, Knowledge and Technology Section of the American Sociological Association for his book Scientific Practice and Ordinary Action. His most recent book, Truth Machine: The Contentious History of DNA Fingerprinting (with Simon Cole, Ruth McNally & Kathleen Jordan) examines the interplay between law and science in criminal cases involving DNA evidence. The book received the 2011 Distinguished Publication Award from the Ethnomethodology/Conversation Analysis section of the American Sociological Association. He is Co-Director of the Cornell Law and Society Program.
